A late 19th Century gem set brooch of hexagonal shape. Set with a principal old European cushion cut diamond, measuring approx. 6.10mm x 5.40mm x 2.31mm deep, within a white millegrain border, surrounded by approx. 18 calibre cut green glass, measuring approx. 1.50mm x 1.50mm, channel set within a yellow millegrain border.
A surrounded by a rose cut diamond wreath, set thoughout with approx. 31 rose cut diamonds, measuring approx. 1.40mm diameter, grain set within white millegrain borders, eight plain polished knife edge accents leading to the hexagonal shaped border, set throughout with alternate old mine cut diamonds and calibre cut rubies and synethetic rubies to include a total of 16 old mine cut diamonds, measuring approx. 1.70mm x 1.70mm amnd approx. 28 calibre cut rubies and synthetic rubies, measurin approx. 1.60mm x 1.60mm, grain set within a yellow and white milliegrain border.
Brooch with hinged yellow pin and 'C' shaped clasp with hinged security panel. Additional hinged pendant suspension loop. Brooch length approx. 290mm. The brooch is not hallmarked but has been XRF tested and valued as approx. 15ct yellow gold and approx. 950 grade platinum.
Estimated principal diamond weight 0.63ct, assessed I/J colour and I1 clarity. Estimated total diamond weight of the 16 old mine cut diamonds 0.48ct. Circa 1890. Overall condition very good. Gross item weight 8.61gms.
