A beautiful opal and diamond bar brooch typical of the late Victorian era, circa 1890s.  A knife edge gold bar set to the centre with a cabochon cut opal with a border of old cut diamonds. This opal and diamond cluster measures approx. 12.00mm x 10.00mm. To each side an old cut diamond approx. 3.00mm diameter and at the terminals an old cut diamond approx. 4.00mm diameter. Estimated total diamond content 1.00ct, assessed colour I/J/K, assessed clarity SI1/SI2/I1.   The length of the brooch is approx. 1.75 inches.  Fastening with a hinged yellow pin and C scroll catch with added security of a gold safety chain.  No hallmark or stamps, tests as approx. 18ct yellow gold.  Gross item weight 5.4gms.
